OUR STORY
YINN is made by two people.
Xu has been making Chinese incense for more than twenty years. Sam loves incense, writing, and cats, and works with Xu to bring Chinese incense and its culture to more people around the world.
THE INCENSE MAKER
Xu makes the incense.
Xu has been making incense for more than twenty years. He works with natural aromatic materials, traditional preparation methods, and old Chinese incense formulas. We respect traditional formulas, but we do not copy them blindly. Materials change, and so does the way people live with incense. We try to understand what a formula was meant to do, keep its structure and character, and adjust it only when necessary. Preparation, blending, hand-making, testing, and resting are all part of making the incense.

EVERYDAY LIFE
Sam brings it into everyday life.
Sam writes about how incense is made, shares the daily work behind it, and tries to make traditional Chinese incense easier to understand outside China. We also rethink the things around the incense: how it is explained, packaged, and used. Our box protects the handmade sticks and also becomes the incense holder, so someone new to Chinese incense can simply open it and begin. The incense remains rooted in traditional craft. The way people meet it can be simpler.
WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO DO
Bring Chinese incense, and its culture, to more people.
We want more people around the world to understand Chinese incense, experience it, and make it part of everyday life. Keep the craft. Share what we know. Make it easier to begin.
